ADIP Magazine FUTURE CITIES: Placetaker–Projects for the Giardini in Venice presents the work of our 2013 workshop. FUTURE CITIES is an architectural design research project that responds to the needs of cities in crisis and cities suffering from stagnation or decline. In 2013 the Biennale in Venice, its organization as well as its spatial representation, was chosen for further speculations on the future of Venice.

This issue of the ADIP Magazine documents architectural and urban interventions that modify the character of the Biennale to transform its relationship to Venice. Projects for the Giardini is a collaboration between Technische Universität Berlin, Germany; Technische Universität Graz, Austria; Università IUAV di Venezia, Italy; and Univerza v Ljubljani, Slovenia. The magazine is edited by Prof Boštjan Vuga and Birgit Klauck.
